Tuesdays Seeds

January Seed Starts - Aromatic and Medicinal Herbs

I saved up several 18 egg paper cartons to begin my seed starts. Its what I have available to me and prevents it from becoming a 'waste/recycle' product. From a local nursery, I picked up some potting soil and packed it into each egg pocket.

Chamomile, Echinacea, Indian Blanket, and Hyssop seed starts in egg carton.

The waxing gibbous moon is crossing the Libra star arrangement, indicating a good time to plant flowers, aromatic and medicinal herbs. I selected:

~holy basil

~calendula

~chamomile

~echinacea

~gaillardia Indian blanket

~hyssop

The plantings don't necessarily need to be from seed, its just what I wanted to do. The classic rosemary, thyme, and lavender potted plants are wonderful additions to a balcony garden, in an herb spiral, or even as ornamental shrubs in the front of the home. Edible, medicinal, attractive to pollinators, and low maintenance are qualities that any gardener can appreciate.

Notice I included two seed packs from two different companies. I wanted to test if there would be a difference in germination rates, taste, and hardiness.
